By now you’ll know that I’m all about giving the small fries trying to break into our music scene, a chance.

So when Studio 7 approached me with this idea/competition, how could I not get involved??

Studio 7 have teamed up with their ever-faithful sponsor, Bushmills, and with The Rooftop Recording Studio to bring you all, but especially those small fry musos, something super special.

The prize? Up and coming artists or groups stand the chance to have the opportunity of performing at the intimate setting of Studio 7 for their fans and other industry professionals, as well as the chance to win B Side Sessions to the value of R10 000 from The Rooftop Recording Studio. It ain’t a cash prize, but it’s still just as good.

Their fanbases are also given the opportunity to advocate for their favourite up and coming by helping them win this incredible opportunity. Just by voting, you will automatically be entered into a competition to win some awesome prizes, including Bushmills Irish Whiskey, festival tickets, Studio 7 gig tickets and more… It’s win win here people.

Submissions for bands and artists open TODAY and will run until Monday the 23^rd of July.

Submissions can be made here. The Studio 7 panel of judges will then make the final selection to put forward for public votes. This final selection will be made by Tuesday the 24^th of July and voting will open immediately.

The poll will be available on their Facebook page and winners will be announced on Tuesday the 31st of July.

I’ve also jumped on board as a judge along with Ard Matthews (??). Naturally, I’m all for bribery and corruption so if you want me to put in a good word… I joke, I joke.
