Introducing Miagii

PREMIER: Joburg's newest punk pop group drop debut video 'Stay Calm'.

25 May 2016 / Press Release / written by TATC Staff

Say hello to MIAGII, a four-piece garage punk pop band from Joburg, comprised of Marc de la Querra (Fire Through The Window, Nemesis, Daventry, Anchors Up), Josh Roscoe (The Ts & Cs, Daventry), Hanro Havenga and Gerard “Chuck” Becker (I AM).

Today the group announced the release of their debut single, ‘Stay Calm’, released on Mysterious Records and produced by David Grevler of AntiMotion Studios.

Influenced by bands like Wavves, Fidlar, Nirvana and Modern Baseball, to name a few, the band has found its niche by merging grunge, surf and punk, while maintaining the hook and catch of a pop band. MIAGII came together through a mutual love of the aforementioned bands, which has made the writing process smooth and seamless.

‘Stay Calm’ is the first single off their upcoming album and gives you a small taste as to what the band is about. Shot by the multi-talented Hanro Havenga and Cari Pohl, and animated by Ben Rausch (Cool Your Jets), this upbeat, performance-rooted video has us dying to be front-and-center at their first gig. You know it’s gonna be a party. Watch the video below and  follow Miagii on Facebook & Instagram.
