This is the best lineup you’re going to see all weekend. Purple Turtle in Long Street welcome headliners Van Coke Kartel back from their Haal Asem Kwagga tour and want you all to do so too, preferrably with a raised glass in one hand.
Now we all know how I feel about like knives and Stepdog, but I’ve said very little about Red Huxley who, at this year’s Oppikoppi, were on top form and were one of the top bands who proudly represented Cape Town on the James Phillips Main Stage.
The night before their performance I had an inebriated run-in (what other kind of run-in is there with me, really now) with two of their members who gladly threw a lighter – stamped with the time of their Main Stage performance – at me.
It’s a winning combination really – I admire their business savvy and they admire my love of giving away stuff, so much so that they’ve given me 2 t-shirts, 2 sticker packs and 2 double tickets to Saturday’s gig to give away to 2 deserving readers of this blog.

All you have to do is click “LIKE” on my Facebook page and leave a post on my wall telling me why YOU deserve this kick-ass prize.
And if you don’t win the lucky packet, well, entrance fee on Saturday is R50. Memories and good music are priceless people, priceless.
