Yesterday I was browsing NME’s Top 100 Songs of the ‘00s and in all honesty, they got it pretty spot on.
And then I started thinking…
What about all those songs that were “hits” that we all want to forget?
Now we either want to forget them because a) they’re so excruciatingly horrible b) we’ve got bad memories attached to them or c) we really don’t want to admit that we even liked them in the first place.
Enter Dj Alligator. Iranian-Danish eurodance producer and DJ. Ring any bells? They do for me. In fact DJ Alligator pretty much covers a, b and c that I listed above.
His two hits in 2000 are 2 of the songs I probably want to forget the most, but every now and again someone samples it or some naff radio station plays it and the horror begins all over again. And god forbid someone gives me a whistle…
Today I thought I’d just embrace it. And force you to as well.
