Undoubtedly at the top of their game with an iTunes #1 album (“yes/no/grey”), a SAMA nomination, 2 MK nominations, numerous #1 radio singles and performances at every major festival in SA, Gangs of Ballet have won the hearts and minds of fans throughout SA.
Now the band want to bring their family of fans even closer by having them star in, direct and produce a video for their upcoming single, “House and Money” and create South Africa’s first ever social media fan-made music video.
Using Vine and Instagram’s video services, the band are asking fans to submit short clips to create an online, fan-produced video. With two big gigs coming up, they want fans to shoot their own awesome experiences at Gangs of Ballet shows – having fun at the show, the band performing, them meeting the band; and, they also want fans to shoot short clips that mean something to them outside of these shows. “House and Money” is a song about passion and letting go – about freedom – and the band wants fans to capture this feeling by shooting a multitude of clips anytime and anywhere over the next two weeks.
By uploading 15sec and 6sec videos on Instagram and Vine respectively, and tagging them with #YesNoGrey, the band will bring together a big selection of the best clips over the coming weeks and compile a ground-breaking video, tagging all of the producer-fans who made the video. The band will also be giving away 10 signed copies of their album, “yes/no/grey” to 10 of the producer-fans.
So, get filming, get creative, have fun and be a part of making South African music history.
