Branko: Let Me Go Feat. Nonku Phiri & Mr Carmack

How can you not be completely enamoured by a song that found life in your city and encompasses a devastating trifecta of ground breaking artists, who all have astounding reputations in their fields of expertise?

Red Bull Studios Cape Town played host to Branko, Mr Carmack and the Soulection crew in the week proceeding Cape Town Electronic Music Festival. During this period, Branko worked on tracks for his forthcoming album, “Atlas|. He enlisted the skills of local songbird Nonku Phiri, best known for her radio chart climbing hit ‘What We Do On The Weekend’or by her alias Jung Freud and her work with PHFat. Nonku’s vocals are seductive without being salacious, and inherently meld with the textural ambience brought to the fore by Mr Carmack. Carmack has taken the trap / bass / R ‘n B world on a wild ride over the last 18 months, changing the game on how the amalgamation of these genres is approached. His contribution to ‘Let Me Go’ offers nuances that assist in highlighting the intricacies of Branko’s zouk bass rhythm.

Branko has a keen ear for unique sounds and utilizes the strengths of his collaborators to a peak. ‘Let Me Go’ has pop sensibility with underground appeal, which will guarantee cross-pollination of audiences.
