What To Expect At Blood Brothers Cape Town

When I was brought on board as MC I thought they would tell me everything, like all the songs they were going to play. I thought I would be part of their Blood Brothers WhatsApp group. But no, I was kept in the dark just like everyone else. And when all was said and done, I’m glad I was.

The Vrede Foundation is a huge part of the Blood Brothers campaign and the fight against Cancer, hence the army gear in the photo shoot. The foundation is very close to all the hearts of the musicians involved, as Herman Pretorius (who sadly passed away from cancer) was a Blood Brother of the Bellville Rock Scene and a true pioneer of our greater music scene.

The Blood Brother collective rehearsed for months (with difficulty as some were in Cape Town and others in Joburg) and the repertoire consisted of their own individual band’s tracks as well as covers that they love, the music that has shaped the musicians they are today.

There were so many stand out performances throughout the entire night, that not once did I feel bored during the 3 hours that they performed. There were also more than a couple of sheer brilliant song moments that included Francois Van Coke covering Nirvana’s ‘Come As You Are’ and Kobus de Kock Jnr covering Motorhead’s ‘Ace of Spades’. Kobus was also the standout performer of the night, who completely stole the show and blew every single person away.

Cape Town, I cannot stress enough how brilliant this show is. Don’t miss it! Get your tickets here.
