Watch NWA Inducted In To The Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall Of Fame

Out of this year’s 6 inductees into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall Of Fame, none stood out more than NWA. After the incredible success of “Straight Outta Compton” (and lets not even get started on the controversy surrounding its Best Picture Oscar snub) this induction comes as the cherry on top of a brilliant year, 30 years after NWA was formed.

Current King of Compton, Kendrick Lamar, was tasked with the honour of introducing his heroes and his speech was a real crowd winner. Speaking from the heart K Dot declared, “The fact that a famous group can look just like one of us and dress like one of us, talk like one of us, proved to every single kid in the ghetto that you can be successful.”

After their introduction each member gave an individual speech, all having one common denominator – their love for the dearly departed Eazy-E, but it was Ice Cube’s speech that really hit home for all hip hop haters.

“Now, the question is, are we rock ‘n’ roll? You goddam right we’re rock ‘n’ roll,” Ice Cube smiled amidst thunderous applause. “You see, rock ‘n’ roll is not an instrument, rock ‘n’ roll isn’t even a style of music it’s a spirit […] Rock ‘n’ roll is nonconformant, rock ‘n’ roll is out of the box, rock ‘n’ roll is NWA.” Suck on that Gene Simmons.
