Samthing Soweto, Vinny Da Vinci, Amy Ayanda head for March Sunday Edition

Sunday March 4th sees Samthing Soweto and Vinny Da Vinci step up to showcase the music that has ensured their unique impact on the South African music scene. Multi-talented Cape Town-based creative Amy Ayanda will also be in the mix, playing the material that’s earned her a growing reputation as one of South Africa’s most compelling ambient-infused singer-songwriters.

Curated by Black Major Selects, Sunday Edition will additionally feature the Cape Town appearance of Kwaitour, a project of DJs Okapi, Pierre Estienne and Paul Waxon that has been taking Kwaito, Bubblegum and other dance music from the African continent to Europe over the past seven months.

The featured visual artist for March is the talented Sebastian Borckenhagen who will be providing the images for a day of the best designers, record sellers, fashion labels, zine makers, food traders and cocktails creators that Cape Town has to offer.

Black Major Selects has long wanted to feature Samthing Soweto and his band at Sunday Edition. As a founding member of The Soil, Samthing became one of the most beloved voices in the country – and his following has only grown bigger since he went solo. Together with Sun-El Musician, Samthing released one of the biggest, and most potent, songs of 2017 in “Akanamali”, yet more proof that music fans have only started to experience what this gifted artist has to offer.

Sunday Edition has scored another coup with the addition of Vinny da Vinci to the March line-up. A true legend, Vinny is considered one of the godfathers of South African House and easily lays claim to the title of “your favourite DJs’ favourite DJ”. With supreme prowess behind the decks and decades of experience, the upcoming Sunday Edition is a chance for fans of pioneering music to see an original in action.

Amy Ayanda is a singer, songwriter, painter and visual artist who approaches all aspects of her creativity with an unmistakable honesty, care and beauty that has elevated and distinguished her from her peers. Amy’s specially crafted live show for Sunday Edition will feature her band of accomplished musicians performing new material from her recent release Ab Ovo.

Rounding off another brazenly inventive line-up is Kwaitour as well as a brilliant selection of tunes from the Black Major office playlist. Sunday Edition is expected to sell-out so get your tickets now here.
