We knew it was coming but we weren’t ready, so when the members of Nirvana finally reunited this past weekend at Cal Jam it took us a while to wrap our minds around what we’d just witnessed.
With Deer Tick’s John McCauley and the lauded Joan Jett taking the vocal reigns in place of the late, great, Kurt Cobain, they performed ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, ‘In Bloom’, ‘All Apologies’ (which The Distillers’ Brody Dalle played bass on), ‘Breed’ (which was phenomenal), ‘Scentless Apprentice’ and ‘Serve the Servants’.
This wasn’t the first time that McCauley and Jett performed with the group, having served as guest vocalists when Nirvana performed at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, to celebrate their induction.
Trust us when we say you’re going to want to take a moment alone when you watch all the videos below.
