The Wacken Metal Battle returns to SA

The Wacken Metal Battle South Africa returns to South Africa in 2019, where one band will be chosen to represent South Africa at the Wacken Metal Battle Final in Germany.

The competition sees forty-five bands competing across 9 heats around South Africa battle it out to reach the South African Final hosted on the 27th of April at Rumours Rock City, Johannesburg.

The competition will be judged by various industry players including Wayne Boucher (Talent buyer – Turning Tricks & Krank’d Up, Frontman, Deity’s Muse), Craig Atkinson (Jam Packed Productions), Ashley Gaisforth (South Africa’s favourite live metal engineer), Tim Moolman (venue owner – Mercury Live).

Joining them are musos Carlos Sanchez (Deadline), Heine Van Der Waldt (Boargazm) and members of previous bands who won the SA Battle – Louis Henn (2017 winner Megalodon), Chris Hall (2013 & 2016 winner Infanteria/Zombies Ate My Girlfriend).

The Wacken Metal Battle South Africa is an entirely community-funded project, and all profits from the heats are used towards assisting the winning band on their journey to Europe, where they to see a return of the number one spot to South African shores.
