Tel Aviv artist Dennis Lloyd first popped up on my radar when he was featured on COLOURS’ Youtube channel in 2017.
He performed a track called “Leftovers” that deals with mistakes, pain and the constant manifestations of heartache. Jesus take the wheel.
Fast forward a year-and-a-half and he’s dealing with a similar type of heartache in his new single “Never Go Back”, but this time he’s swearing that it’s over for good.
The vertical video for “Never Go Back” is one of the best things I’ve seen in a while and translates the pain of a 21st century relationship perfectly.
If you’ve ever had your heart ripped out of your chest, it’s hard not to feel a pang of familiarity when his ex opens Instagram to block Lloyd, or when she’s scrolling through pics of the two of them, trying to decide which ones to delete or keep.
Happy Monday kids and remember, it really isn’t worth going back. Take it from someone who had to learn the hard way.
