Bard dives into the scene with his slick debut “With You”

Back-lit silhouetted dancers counter shots of Bard himself, just as polished and poised as his debut single.

The Durban singer-songwriter is fresh on the scene and ready to get moving. His sound is something of a celebration of blues and soul respectively – hardened and driven by a solid electronic backbone which pushes it meaningfully towards the EDM spectrum. He calls it grungy blues – I see more blues than grunge, and more electronicism than blues but it’ll probably to get your hips moving.

Honed and varied vocalism explores the ins and outs of following your chosen life path. It’s a reminder of what, in fact, is truly good for you as you navigate this wild ride – and how to take the steps in consideration of what’s good for.

We can all learn a lesson or two from that.

It’s a strong debut, theoretically. It’s also something a little too familiar to my ears to take terribly seriously yet.

Let’s see what the approaching EP has to offer.
