Meet Sishii, SABC star turned Afro-pop musician who’s set to make some waves

He’s charming, poised, got a fair few accolades under his 20-year-old belt and he’s just dropped a fiery track.

Ntobeko Sishi, who hails beneath the wholesomely simple moniker of Sishii, is Durban-born, Cape Town educated, SABC-honed and now burgeoning Afro-pop artist. His latest single “All Night” – which comes two years after the release of his debut EP – finds its footing in minimalist R&B influence and hardy electronic tones.

Sishii attributes much of his confidence as a performer to landing his lead role in the SABC 2 drama series Signal High, which earnestly tackles the social issues faced by South African teenagers.

“All Night” takes his talents to the other side of the spectrum. Hollow percussive electronic tones slot into place among the rife assembly of pop hooks and easy chorus drops.

Take him with a pinch of salt. The track is pivoted off a cat-and-mouse thematic vein. It’s about the party banter: the games we play when we wanna get some but won’t admit it.

We’ve all been there.

There’s a blithe cheekiness to this guy which will see him slip right in at home with his chosen niche.
