Francois Van Coke and Karen Zoid’s iconic ballad hits 8 million views on YouTube and deservedly so

Can you believe it’s been just over four years since Frannie released his first solo album?

The album’s now-iconic duet, “Toe Vind Ek Jou” featuring Karen Zoid, has now reached the 8 million mark, making it one of the most (if not the most) watched Afrikaans music videos of our time.

Think about where Frannie started and let that sink in for a second.

Did you know that the song was also the first Afrikaans album and single to simultaneously jump to number 1 positions on the SA iTunes Store in 2015, and was also named as the biggest Afrikaans music video of 2015.

Francois is currently hard at work on his third solo album. Amongst others this album will feature collaborations with Riky Rick, Spoegwolf and Fokofpolisiekar bandmate, Hunter Kennedy. This album is due for release in October.

He’s also one third of the team behind Van Coke Studios which we profiled last month.

As part of Francois game show, Die Van Coke Show on kykNET, he and Die Gevaar covered old and new popular Afrikaans hits, putting their famous rock ‘n’ roll stamp on these songs. Many of these Die Van Coke Show covers will make up the set list for this Barnyard Theatre concert series.

He will also tell the story about these song choices and explain his thinking behind them. This set will also include all the original classics we love to watch Francois perform at all his other shows.
