Jon Shaban and U.S. singer-songwriter Ian Fisher announce co-headlining SA tour

Cape based folk punk vagabond Jon Shaban has announced a co-headlining tour with American singer-songwriter Ian Fisher, proudly brought to you by Sit The Folk Down.

Ian Fisher is a prolific modern songwriter raised in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, and living in Vienna, Austria.

His music is best described by Rolling Stone as “Half Americana & Half Abbey Road-Worthy Pop” and “A World Traveller’s Perspective on American Folk-Rock”.

He has paid his dues, writing over one and a half thousand songs, releasing over a dozen records, and touring internationally for over a decade.

“I often extend the invite for artists abroad to visit SA and it’s such a pleasure when it comes together,” explains Shaban. “I’m really looking forward to touring with Ian and showing him our beautiful country and introducing him to our scene. Meeting Ian was meant to happen. The coincidences leading to us meeting are mind-blowing. Come to a show. Hear the full story,”

Ian adds, “As I write the words “South Africa”, I think less of how little I truly know about it and more about how much I imagine.  That imagination filled with blurry fragments, an abstract mosaic.  Pictures of its beautiful landscape, fresh scars of its history similar yet different to one I know from growing up in Missouri, and stories of its warm-hearted people all mix together to make for me the unknown. Oh, and how the unknown is an adventuresome place to throw oneself into with a guitar and a song.”
