Easy Freak and Darkie Fiction join forces for a colour-splashed celebration of coming together

A kick-back, kwaito-esque, off-kilter beat scuffs up the dirt while electro-pop influence snatches at the gaps.

This is Easy Freak and Darkie Fiction’s debut collab and just as tasty as you might expect.

The single is fresh off Easy Freak’s sophomore album no LIES, which was released earlier this year, and accompanied by a pastel-coloured, quirk-infused video a la Avi Mack and Alan Patrick.

There’s nothing remotely trying about the track. Simple on almost every level and yet consistently boogie-worthy, each melodic element sits on a surface level string: never vying for attention, never layering too deep.

The video blithely follows a dinner gathering turned rooftop party with the kind of hipster-esque simplicity which is as entertaining as it is hilarious.

A four-person dinner party of blue cereal, Ultra-Mel, burnt toast, and doughnuts is deemed unsatisfactory as yellow text scrawls across the screen, “well, this is awkward”.

Within minutes the homies are called upon and the video morphs into a beer-in-hand break down on a rooftop, as a dirty baseline beat drops and kicks up dust – driving the track’s roots down once and for all.
