A lot has been said, written and posted this week about the femicide that South African women are currently facing so I’ll keep this short – enough is enough.
And as we wait for the President to address the country at 6pm this evening, we will keep on declaring that #MenAreTrash and I’m not here to debate this hashtag so if you don’t agree please don’t ever read my website again.
But I digress.
The scenes that have emerged from this week’s protest have made our country weep – for the ones we have lost but also for the hurt, shame and panic that so many women and LGBTQI individuals who have been assaulted, or live in fear that they will, carry on a day-to-day basis.
And as the days tick on let us make sure that South African men and those in power, the decision-makers of SA who have the power to effect change, never forget these scenes.
This was the response we got for protesting against violence and rape in our country. This is how the government treats us. Why respond with more violence. Fuck the government and fuck this life we're living.#StopKillingOurWomen#UyineneMrwetjana pic.twitter.com/67w2MWP3GH— J A Y ♥️ (@broncodolans) September 4, 2019
