Satirical Afrikaans duo Van Pletzen always seem to spread kak legeh vibes when I need it the most and after the heaviness of last week I’ve been craving a good lol.
Today, Van Pletz release “Awaken The Legehness” which they’re billing as SA’s first Kung Fu Film and while it’s more Kung Fu Panda than The Karate Kid, I watched it from beginning to end, which is saying a lot because I don’t have the longest attention span.
“It has been more than a year since the release of our debut album “KAK LEKKE VIBE” and Nax and I have now got a much deeper understanding about the Legehness and what we are all about. One might even say that we have now become masters in the sacred art of Legeheness,” says Van Pletzen, who’s also calling himself Groot Hond nowadays.
Apparently it’s always been Groot Hond’s dream to make a Kung Fu movie, so seeing him take on a Sensei-type roll, motivating Nax as he aims to embrace his Legehness in all its glory, fits perfectly.
The video also features my favourite, Early B, who takes on the role of a Shaolin monk who likes to gooi those nunchucks almost as much as they all love to gooi Jägermeister. It’s their fifth collaboration with the rapper, whose career has skyrocketed over the last year-and-a-bit, so it’s great to see them all band together again.
If “Awaken The Legehness” is only the first taste of what’s to come off their upcoming second album then by all means pass the zaab because kak lekker times are here to stay.
