Hollywood icon, jazz pianist and all-round legend, Jeff Goldblum, announced earlier today that he’s teamed up with singer-songwriter and actress Miley Cyrus for his new single, “The Thrill is Gone”, set to be released this week on Friday the 1st of November, alongside his new album.
Originally recorded by lauded jazz trumpeter and vocalist, Chet Baker, Goldblum suggested their collaboration on “The Thrill Is Gone” to Cyrus, who is apparently a very good friend of the actor, when he started planning his second album.
Goldblum has been playing the track for years with his long-time band The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, but has been waiting for the perfect soloist with whom to record the song, which he found in friend Cyrus, calling her contribution, “both surreal and mesmerizing.”
The single from this mal duo will feature on Goldblum’s upcoming album I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This, the follow-up to his No. 1 jazz album last year.
Listen to Chet Baker’s original below while you wait for the cover to drop on Friday.
