We’ve been keeping a close eye on Wéreld. The collective has been quietly putting on some insightful talks in Pretoria and now they’ve expanded their performance-based platform to Joburg.
Their WORLDPLAY SESSIONS event will showcase innovative musicians and spoken word poets and will take place one a month.
Following a first sold out show, the second WORLDPLAY SESSION is happening on Thursday 31 October at Ophelia Cafe, 2A Fifth Avenue, Emmarentia.
On the line-up they have spoken word artist Jaco van der Merwe (Bittereinder) who has been spitting-screaming-whispering rhymes at unsuspecting audiences all over the world for two decades. For this set he is planning a few special tricks and treats. The musical performance is by Werner Bekker who is a full time musician with over eight years of experience in songwriting, composition, performance and teaching music.
Tickets are R100 and the show kicks off 18:30 for 19:00, there are only 70 seats available.
