Noah Cyrus isn’t one to sugarcoat a thing. The 19-year-old hitmaker – who has powered through a steady stream of pop, hip-hop, and EDM singles and a couple of EPs in her short career – recently teamed up with sure-fire producer London On Da Track for a candid and raw video for “fuckyounoah”.
The track is pretty much a modern day love-hate affair with herself. Nothing new for a Gen Z teen teetering on the brink of adulthood, having grown up in the thick of the cutthroat world of the limelight – but in the same breath it’s endlessly relatable.
It’s a zero-fucks-given pop anthem, fringed in nails, navigating ones inner demons with brutal honesty. The video sees her move through a slew of different characters: a surgeon, a therapist, a hospital patient under the knife, botox needles sliding into her skin. London On Da Track makes a couple of appearances. It’s not for casual viewing, I’ll tell you that.
While it comes from the same candid vein as her two previous releases this year, this time around she dives deep into themes of self-loathing and mental issues. Her husky, honey-edged vocals chart a route through self-love – or the lack thereof – and makes it impossible not to listen.
