I don’t know how these guys slipped past my radar but if you’re looking for a solid dose of satirical twee-tale kak lekker nonsense, look no further than Van Pletzen.
Peach van Pletzen and Matthieu “Makkie” Auriacombe pinned down the pirate of the caravan park himself, Jack Parow, for a sizzlingly simple neo-house track which you probably won’t get out of your head for days.
The track pivots off the deepest beat they’ve dropped yet. A kind of hollow EDM-hop bounce which will worm its way into your takkies. Peach and Makkie kick back in matching white sneakers, black skinny jeans and your classic furry jackets before taking to a narrow graffitied alleyway to drop the verses.
In a flurry of broken Afrikaans – or is it English? I can’t tell – Peach slots in for some stamping choreography with three hip-hop dancers (they’re probably the most professional part of the whole get up) before breaking out his verses. Jack Parow slides into the mix on a quad bike, kitted out in a leopard-print robe and his pantoffels to spit a couple of pure Afriaakans bars.
It’s a whole lot of ridiculousness crammed into one polished video – and I won’t lie, I’ve watched it about 6 times and counting.
