Jay Cubed drops a bite-sized 2019 wrap-up in a video for “Something Strange”

It’s been a year for Jay Cubed. The Mafikeng native dropped videos left right and center and even hooked a record deal with a European label and wrapped up 2019 with the release of I Took My Own Advice EP.

“Something Strange”, the EP intro, got it’s very own video as a final foray – a fleeting reminiscent visual clocking in at under 2 minutes. Brought to life by budding director Leonorah Moyo, the video is, quite literally, a lazy reflection on the year gone by.

Pivoted off a solid, pillowy beat, the track is gloriously simplistic after the overhaul of content the artist churned out in 2019. It builds like an EDM track but never drops, opting instead for a high-tone dissipation in it’s short-lived extent.

Jay Cubed is sprawled on a lilo, drifting across an electric blue swimming pool. He’s decked from head to tow in Adidas – socks and all. The oval pool transforms into hazy lens snapping through the whirlwind of his latest performances and videos. It’s a reflection – excuse the pun – and Jay Cubed is just floating out here taking a well-deserved chill.
