Watch Madison Beer go psych-cyborg in her self-directed video for “Good In Goodbye”

Before signing to Epic Records late last year, Madison Beer made a star-studded name for herself as one of the most commercially successful independent artists to-date.

With a debut EP As She Pleases which garnered over 700 million streams globally and made her the first independent female solo artist to break into the Top 20 radio charts – and her name among Billboard’s 21 under 21 list, 20-year-old Beer has built a pretty name for herself.

She’s got the self-coined term Girl Boss stamped all over her too, with writing, production and creative direction controls firmly in her grasp. Her fresh new video and first single off her upcoming debut album, “Good In Goodbye” was written and directed by Beer herself – tracking a badass game character to counter the break-up song.

Against the chiming synths, rich R&B vocal style and heady beat, a futuristic scene unfurls as Beer is placed in a virtual simulation and dives into a video-game world which her greatest adversity is – wait for it – her.

“You put the over in lover/ you put in the x in ex/ […] You’re toxic boy/ I don’t even gotta find G O O D in goodbye,” she drawls as she moves, cyborg-esque through the game, pausing only to light a cigarette from a fingernail.

It’s a whole lot of rough-and-tough girl power wrapped in glossy sheen of sound.
