Fynite’s new afro-house single and video “You’re My Ghost” enters relatively new territory for the electro-house producer, pushing his style back to his roots.
Having started as a house producer before moving into electro-production under various monikers (Defected, Soul Candi and more), and it seems like Fynite’s finally back to basics. Having recently debuted with Sirup Music (Avicii, Nora en Pure), he has steadily been making a name for himself in the industry, and “You’re My Ghost” might just have tapped into a whole new fan base.
Afro-house has become huge on a commercial scale thanks to artists like Mi Casa, Euphonik and even Black Coffee in some respects, and with such big names to follow on from, Fynite enters the scene with blazing confidence.
The track centres around crisp melodies, slender vocals and shaker rhythms while the video plays out through prisms of optical illusions, in a kind of self-directed, hand-held cam style. It’s not an overly artistic approach, and while the visual effects are a little too Ipad Mini for the bigtime artists he’s up against, with the backing of clean production technique and a brilliant feel for composition, there’s not much Fynite can’t overcome.
