This is 24kGOLDN: 19-year-old viral rap wunderkind who just burst onto the scene shining

A quick Google search on 24KGoldn and Twitter informs me the 19-year-old Cali rapper has, in fact, tested positive for coronavirus. Ah wait, he was just joking. TikTok viral stars hey.

Late 2019 saw 24kGoldn drop his breakthrough single “Valentino” – which burst through TikTok and has now surpassed over 225 million streams worldwide. His swift rise saw him garner the attention of – and open for – the likes of Landon Cube and YBN Cordae, as well as being afforded the honour of being named one of Youtube’s Artists on the Rise.

His debut EP DROPPED OUTTA COLLEGE – ’cause he legitimately did – charts his experience in the process of dropping out of USC and into his new life in the world of musical artistry – with a couple of relationship curveballs thrown into the mix. Apparently he’s “still ballin’” on his rise to fame and his entry into the flashy lifestyle of that world.

The EP includes firey track “CITY OF ANGELS” which is exploding now as a single hit. Clattering percussion finds jangling guitar as the 19-year-old’s rasping trap vocals slide over the top. Sneaky alternative textures loop in to lift it a little higher.

Given his natural versatility he’s also been teaming up for collabs all over the genre spectrum – the latest being with the dark princess of pop, Death By Romy, in a remix of her latest hit “Promises”. Kick-back beats meet a cruising, sexy pop strain – it’s easy, breezy and catchy AF.

Goldn, we’re watching you.
