The rise of Facing The Gallows warms the cockles of my jaded heart.
After years of grafting and the welcoming of new vocalist Reegan du Buisson, they seemed to gain immense momentum, with representing South Africa in the Global Battle of the Bands, in Wacken, Germany being the cherry on top.
They didn’t take the title but it’s no biggie, they still came out winners, securing a record deal with Out of Line Music, a leading industrial and dark music label.
This week sees the release of their tour documentary that follows the band as they travel from South Africa to Germany on a trip that proved to be life changing.
“Heading to Wacken Open Air, is an experience second to none, heading to Wacken to play on one of the stages was ultimately a dream come true!” exclaims guitarist Chase Beynon.
“Facing the Gallows had entered the Wacken Metal Battle before, but 2019 was our year! We were blown away when we heard our name being called out at the local final. We had put in some seriously hard work leading up to that show, and it was very clear that all the other local bands did too! We implore every local band to jump at this opportunity, we know what talent we have here in SA, and our musicians could really bring a new sound to the world stage.”
