SHADYLANES invite you to an unknown destination in their new track and lockdown video for “Unknown Destination”

SHADYLANES is a four-piece indie-rock band currently based in Hanoi, Vietnam – with members from South Africa, Australia and New Zealand – whose dynamic and distinctive sound has helped them make a name for themselves in the city’s vibrant music scene.

Their new song “Unknown Destination” and accompanying music video is the first of a four-part series of songs (and music videos) called The Lockdown: B-sides from The Happening, whch the band will slowly be releasing – all of which have been recorded and filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Unknown Destination”, featuring singer Zak Azeez, is a slow paced, easy-going offering that encourages a sit back, relax and just go with the flow vibe. With noticeable R&B and hip hop influences, as well as a stripped down, acoustic tendency, the song is raw and unrefined – and, in short, everything you’d expect from a home-recorded song. This, however, doesn’t detract from its groove, rather it serves to add character and a touch of homespun charm.

In true lockdown spirit, their video was shot at home – in a single take nogal. Following the members of the band as they meander around an apartment and reel out a rendition – the single-shot video is simple and intimate, inviting you into their space to get to know them as they play.
