On Saturday 13 June, Cape Town post-punks Dangerfields will be sneaking out of lockdown for a special full-band performance in a beautifully made up studio, which will be broadcast live.
It will be professionally produced by Audiopimps Sound (the beauts we use to produce #AfterDarkSA) and DPK Productions, two stalwarts of the local music industry who are guaranteed to bring a great level of quality to the event, and it will be part of their new StoorSessions series.
Dangerfields released their most recent album Echoes & Pulses towards the end of 2019 and were in the middle of a promotional tour when it got cut short by the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic.
“The last time we were able to play together was back in early Feb when we had a few shows up North in Johannesburg and Pretoria. At the time we had a handful of shows booked in March and April, and we were in the process of organising an international tour for later this year, and it was disappointing to have to cancel all of it and just suddenly be stuck at home,” sighs Lucas Swart, singer and guitarist.
“Playing music together is one of the main things that keep us all sane so we have missed it immensely. We have been using this time to write new songs, sending ideas back and forth over e-mail, but it is just never going to compare to making noise with your best friends in the same room. So needless to say, we’re super excited to see each other and play a proper, loud show. We’re not planning to hold back for this one and we hope the audience also treats it like a proper Saturday night show, tequilas and all!” Swart exclaims.
Through StoorSessions, Audiopimps and DPK are aiming to create a platform which will allow performers to put on high-quality, full band shows which audiences can enjoy from the comfort and safety of their own homes. If all goes well, these events will happen weekly.
Tickets are available on Quicket here.
