Meet Garde, the up-and-coming neo-soul muso who’s all over our good music radar

Meet Garde (real name Siphesihle Siswana), a Durban-based singer, songwriter and producer. His sound sits in a tiny niche labelled “neo-drum”, a kind of Afro-soul writing style that’s no stranger to rolling beats and chill-wave vibes.

During his short career he has already produced for some of SA’s best up-and-coming musos, including Kyle Deutshce, Aewon Wolf, Kaien Cruz and Zanda Zakuz. In addition to his behind-the-scenes work he has also launched a collaboration with friends titled the #GardeAndFriends Series, releasing new music every few weeks. It’s so often the case that young musicians like Garde start out this prolifically, and we only hope he keeps the momentum going.

For a taste of his work check out some of his singles, including his latest “whatyouinspired” and crowd-pleaser “Alone”. His versatility shines through these tracks, and his entire repertoire for that matter, experimenting with catchy vocals, crystal production and intricate writing. His debut release, “Appreciation”, featuring Yanga Yaya, is a personal favourite, showcasing an irresistible groove that’s bound to get anyone going.

Lyrically, Garde is pretty love-smitten. From falling in love to swiping right on Tinder, Garde’s totally current place in music is only amplified by his relatable words. This is Garde, he’s young, fun and dedicated to the thing he loves most in life – great music.
