Johannesburg-based hip hop artist 2Lee Stark has said before that “SA deserves good music” and after a two-year hiatus he’s ready to deliver his own.
Dropping ahead of the muso’s highly anticipated independent debut album set for release in spring, 2Lee Stark’s fourth and latest EP project, Whip Test was ushered in by single, “Ban Ban” complete with a steezy visual treatment.
In a short but potent visual offering directed and produced by Lincoln Long (Dexter Hlongwane), the two minute video sees 2Lee Stark and Draper shot between a warehouse washed in blue-green hues juxtaposed with black and white performance footage.
The trill of a looped piano sequence at the start of the video tells you it’s going to be a class act. There is no doubt that 2Lee Stark is a performer from his numerous memorable performances at renowned festivals such as Oppikoppi, Genesis All Black, and Homecoming Picnic. In a rap battle vibe, 2Lee threads the bars together before Draper smashes out the hook.
The “Ban Ban” music video announces 2Lee Stark’s independent presence to anyone who didn’t know that 2Lee Stark is coming in hot and he’s here to stay.
