Ride-or-die muso Dali introduces himself to the world with a palatable blend of R&B-hip hop in his debut EP, ALPHA

After graduating with a degree in commerce from the University of Cape Town, KwaZulu-Natal-born arts and culture enthusiast Dali Khanyile felt it was time to place academics on the back-burner and pull music to the fore of his life.

At the beginning of this year, Dali stepped out of his time at uni and into the new decade with a scroll in one hand and his debut EP, ALPHA in the other – a six track project that bridges the worlds of R&B and melodic rap.

The work is an honest introduction to the sounds Dali is playing with as the hip-pop rap-pop artist walks us through detailed themes of his all-too-relatable experiences of working hard, losing friends, staying humble, toxic relationships, heart break, sex, and forgiveness.

Listen carefully and you’ll learn a lot about Dali. “Where the Cash At” tells us why and how he got into music, slipping into “Wasted on You” – a sexy and slow roll-beat about crushing hard.

In a well-executed, mixed and mastered production, Dali has hit the scene with an impressive first offering and this might just be the beginning for the young, up-and-coming musician as he scratches the surface of his promising sonic abilities.
