Rootspring launches crowdfunding campaign in a bid to get 98-year-old national treasure Mama Madosini, home

Bespoke traditional music events group, Rootspring Music has just launched a crowdfunding campaign for The Queen of Xhosa bows, Mama Madosini (Madosini Latozi Mpahleni) – the indigenous music instrumentalist and national treasure who has contributed tremendously to South Africa’s indigenous heritage.

Madosini is known world-wide for her tight skills on the Uhadi musical bow ( stringed bow with calabash) and the Mhube (mouth bow) with which she conjures spellbinding tunes that transcend reality.

For over 15 years, Madosini has had one foot in Langa, Cape Town sharing her musical experience with the youth and the other foot with her family in Pondoland in the Eastern Cape. But lately it has come to Rootspring’s attention that Mado’s current living conditions in Langa have become very difficult and would like to help fulfil the living legend’s wish to have a house built on her ancestral home in the Eastern Cape.

To help, donate via Rootspring’s crowdfunding site or donate via EFT should you wish to donate directly using South African bank with these details:
