Dear Friends 01 at JFF Rooftop Farm in Braamfontein is Joburg’s newest get-together

Dear Friends, a cultural event featuring local Jozi creatives debuts at JFF Rooftop Farm in Braamfontein, Johannesburg on Saturday, 12 December 2020 at midday.

This intimate gathering spotlights some of the City’s most talented creatives, coming together to put on an event that is very Joburg.

The event is hosted by Tayla Foong, Ashleigh Machete (JFF Rooftop Farm), Siviwe Ngani (The Dig) and a few other industry friends. Tayla previously hosted No Rules Cafeteria, a much loved pop-up restaurant concept, but due to Covid-19 pandemic the collective had to close shop.

“2020 has been a rollercoaster year for all of us, and I’d like to bring everyone I have met in Joburg together, to put on a special showcase of the talent I have encountered on my journey here,” says Port Elizabeth-born, Foong.

Dear friends is a guest-listed event, and is free to those wanting to attend on the day.

The event features a mini exhibition, live DJs, street food, a craft gin bar and the famed JFF rooftop plant nursery. Braamfontein gallery, Kalashnikovv, will also be open on the day, completing the cultural experience.

The exhibition will show everything from sneakers, sustainable design, and screen-printing to high-fashion garments and streetwear, with young designers Matthew Edwards, Sakhile Cebekhulu, Amen Concepts, and Kgomotso Kiggy in attendance.

Guests can expect a taste of truly Joburg street food from up and coming chef, Sibusiso Makhubo (Skaftinboyzworldwide), and delicious vegan ice-cream from pioneer, Sinenhlanhla KaMadida Ndlela (Yo Coco).

Music is also an integral part of the event, with a curated line-up featuring: Jean-Michel Wickli, House Catz, Siviwe Ngani, Kat Upendi, & ‘Love and Other Thugs’.

There will also be a craft gin bar by father and son duo, Native Spirits and some Jane Doe Hard Lemonade on offer.

One last thing, the ever-talented Obakeng Molepe will be taking your portrait, so you better be looking cute.

Entrance is limited and free to the public. The event strives to be safe and secure, with Covid-19 measurements being put in place, and a limited capacity implemented.
