Norval Foundation is celebrating summer with Summer Sessions in the Sculpture Garden on the 19th and the 20th of December.
Visitors are invited to purchase a swag bag, bring their picnic blankets, find a spot in the Norval Foundation Sculpture Garden and spend the day enjoying music, art and good vibes.
The music line-up includes soulful house DJ and Producer blaqkongo, lofi hip hop and nu jazz DJ, LawdStat on Saturday 19 December and record collector and vinyl selector Ra Mava and Miss Diesel on Sunday, 20 December.
Visitors have two Swag Bag options to choose from: the Simple Swag Bag costs R260 and includes an annual Access Membership, Norval Foundation tote bag, bottle of Skotnes wine and cup. The Art Swag Bag costs R350 and includes an annual Access Membership, Norval Foundation tote bag, bottle of Skotnes wine, cup, A5 in Pursuit of Venus [infected]: Lisa Reihana notebook, eco stationery set (pencil, pen, eraser), colour crayons, limited edition Wim Botha condom and temporary tattoo. Norval Foundation Members pay R150 and R230 for the respective Swag Bags. Visitors are encouraged to purchase online. Members must log in to access the Member’s Swag Bag price.
The event coincides with Cape Town’s first Art Book Fair and Norval Foundation’s December Family Weekend. In addition to these activities, Norval Foundation’s four exhibitions will also be open to viewing; iiNyanga Zonyaka: Athi-Patra Ruga in the Atrium, And then you see yourself: Zanele Muholi in Gallery 1, Alt and Omega: Jackson Hlungwani in Galleries 2-8 and Recent Acquisitions by the Homestead Collection in Gallery 9.
Food and drink specials courtesy of The Skotnes Restaurant will be available all weekend, including their famous braaibroodjies. Their full offering will also be available, as well as their recently launched Summer Picnics. Picnic bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance and reserved via dineplan. The event practices and promotes social distancing. All health and safety protocols will be followed and enforced. All attendees are required to wear masks.
Entrance to Summer Sessions is free for all Norval Foundation Members and kids under 18. Entrance for non-members is covered by the Swag Bag ticket price and includes an Access Membership, which includes entrance on the day and unlimited entries for one year.
