Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys’ captivate and console with new single “Evening Train”

Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys string us along with our first taste of their upcoming album Transit Tapes (for women who move furniture around), to leave us tapping our toes for more.

The full album is due to drop on the 14th of May, featuring the new Lost Boys – Martin Perret, Andreas Miranda and Liú Mottes. For now though, we’ve got their latest release to keep us sated.

“Evening Train” was one of the first songs written by Kruger following her move from South Africa to Berlin. It traverses an emotional tension between intimacy and alienation within its lyrics and sound. The song reflects on the temporal moments of shared spaces and physical proximity with strangers that a train ride offers. This: an experience conflictingly reassuring yet painful when living in a new environment. Pining for the comforting protection of a familiar embrace, “Evening Train” will practically clench at your chest with all the feels it comes with.

Beginning with a fingerpicked melody laced under Kruger’s charged croon, the song progressively transitions its pace and tone with the heavy, thrumming ambience of the chorus, as it continuously unfolds and builds its sound with the ebb and flow of a tide.

From start to finish it effectively allures one to journey with it – without a glimpse of turning back.
