Get on your skates and roll with the punches alongside Mila Smith in her debut single and video, “Liars & Fakes”

It goes without saying that Mila Smith is no fan of the haters and the dirty cheats of the world. Indeed it’s a dislike so close to her heart she penned her debut single about the very thing. Packaged in a scintillating, snappy neo-pop-on-wheels visual, she packs a striking initial punch to the music scene as she dives in, head first.

Backed by the lauded Platoon, whose pearly gates are ushering in a wealth of impressive talent these days, Smith hits the ground running with “Liars & Fakes”. It’s the sort of funk-driven disco-esque pop which will invariably make Michael Jackson jump to mind at first, before Smith’s own neo-pop continuum dives in with distinctive flair. A heady chorus drop, snappy and impressively wholesome, sets her apart as she drops verses on superficiality.

The accompanying visual, which was written and directed by Anna Telford and Felix Seuffert of Butterfly Films, sees Smith and her gang ditching the thankless daily grind and hit the Cape Town city streets in tinsel and rollerblades, taking their happiness right back into their glittery hands.

It’s cute and catchy, bred for radio and anthemic pow-wow’s alike. Smith might just be the next pop-darling to edge in on your radar, and you should let her.
