Courteney Cox, Elton John, Ed Sheeran and Brandi Carlile perform rendition of “Tiny Dancer” (aka “Tony Danza”)

What do Courteney Cox, Elton John, Ed Sheeran and Brandi Carlile have in common? Very little on an ordinary day, but this far from that.

Inkeeping with the spirit of the Friends Reunion Special, the gang got together to change the lyrics to Elton John’s iconic “Tiny Dancer”. Instead of singing “Hold me close Tiny Dancer” they changed the lyrics to “Hold me close, Tony Danza”, a tribute to one of Phoebe’s lines in Season 3 of Friends.

In the episode, Phoebe says she thinks the most romantic song of all time is “The one that Elton John wrote for that guy on Who’s The Boss? ‘Hold me close, young Tony Danza'”.

In the video posted on Instagram, Cox is playing the piano surrounded by John, Sheeran and Carlile all singing “Tony Danza” in unison, a tribute to Kudrow who couldn’t help but getting her own dig in commenting on Instagram, “Technically it’s ‘Hold me close, young Tony Danza’.”

In all honesty, this is a scene that I completely forgot about (it was on for 10 seasons give me a break), but now I will never sing “Tiny Dancer” the same way. I believe it is time for a “Friends” rewatch.
