Matthew Mole drops a music video for his latest track “I’m With You” and it’s just as cute as you’d expect

A couple of days ago my boyfriend found a poster in Kalk Bay for a missing yellow balloon. We thought it was weird, and got on with life. It makes a little more sense now Matthew Mole’s video for “I’m With You” has dropped.

Coming just a couple of weeks after his live video which charted the warm-washed recording process of the track, the full music video is just as cute as we’ve come to expect from Mole.

Directed by a trio of minds – James Cairns, Michael Forbes and Jason-Haji Joannou – the narrative goes a little like this: Mole and his bright yellow balloon set out for the day. In a stroke of misfortune his balloon goes rogue and, tipping headfirst into a pit of despair, Mole sets out to find it. Cue the posters. I won’t spoil the ending but involves some heartwarming generosity and an appearance by Bouwer Bosch.

Between frames of soggy dejection, the chorus lines cut to monochromatic, artsy shots to keep things interesting – think Mole in shades of yellow on a bed of citrus, in shades of blue against a cloudy wall. Nothing says quintessentially cute like Matthew Mole, now, does it? And he’s keeping it coming.
