Xenlaii follows his debut project with a vibrant and soulful three-track EP, Wild Coast Pack

Independent musician Xenlaii has dropped three tracks created in the summer before the first lockdown hit South Africa, intended to bridge the gap between his last project, Surf: AM and his forthcoming project, Surf: PM.

The EP opens with the anthem-like “Wild Coast,” sporting expertly executed flow over hard-hitting 808s. Drawing from his deep inspiration for the ocean and his upbringing along the coastline, Xenlaii spits with extreme confidence.

The infectious and thoughtful “Ukuba-Happy” features long-time collaborator and fellow KZN native, SimmySimmyNya. It is a gorgeously melodic hip hop ballad.

The project closes with the slower and more personal, “High Places,” as the artist reflects on the afterlife and the spirit of his late mother guiding him through difficulty and towards success.

The short project serves as a beautiful teaser for what’s to come, and as a fine reminder of just how good Xenlaii is.
