WNDRSZN trades his staple R&B sound for a pop-heavy approach on latest single “Sugar”

Written and recorded in 2020, amidst the first lockdown, WNDRSZN’s (real name Mofenyi Fortunate Mohutsiwa) latest single “Sugar” is an ode to the good times, and a promise to live to the fullest from here on out.

Inspired by the likes of Daft Punk, Dua Lipa and Maroon 5, “Sugar” marks WNDRSZN’s first venture into pop music, combining the nostalgic sounds of ’80’s disco with modern R&B, and it truly is a much needed call to the dance floor, as SA eases into a new normal.

Having just inked a distribution and publishing deal with DITTO PLUS labels, WNDRSZN is gearing up for the release of a lot more new music, and if his most recent EP Vinewood Pack is anything to go by, his new material promises to be instilled with a satisfying and slick hip-hop sound.

The EP reached Number 1 on the Apple Music R&B album chart, whilst tracks like “Uwave” and “Real” continue to attract attention across streaming services. Still it’s refreshing to hear WNDRSZN change his writing approach every now and again.

“Sugar” brings a rhythmic edge to his quickly growing discography that’s fast-paced and light, packing easy-flowing melodies over a fun bassline, and while some fans might need a little time to warm up to this new sound of his, WNDRSZN’s ability to innovate his own style as effortlessly as he has on his latest single is ultimately a success.
