Cape Town-hailing intergalactic hip hop up-and-comers 3FACE & CEE, bring a final burst of summer with their fresh new music video for “Revive”.
Only now bringing breezy visuals to a single which has already been featured on the hit Netflix show Blood and Water, these guys are already doing pretty well for themselves. Joshua Eagles and Cedrik Aberle that is – the names behind the moniker, and the contrasting voices which bring their versatility.
Intergalactic is their game, apparently, but I’m more inclined to label it as pop-hop. While the duo pair fleet-footed synth melody and kick-back beats with quick-tonged mic-trading vocalism – they craft a kind of breezy rhythm which is as radio ready as it is to set them apart. And that doesn’t happen often.
Then comes the music video, directed by Little Big Global, which smacks of late summer frivolities and solo sundowners. Keeping things retro, Kayla Tamsian picks out the track on cassette, plugs it into her walkman and skates off down the Durban promenade. Little yellow dress, vibrant red afro, searing blue skies framed by skinny palm trees. It all brings a sense of retro-modernism, framed like a cozy snapshot of summer. It’s bred to revive you – get it?
And there’s a whole lot more where that came from. “Revive” serves as the first of six singles due to drop over the course of the year. So keep those ears sharp.
