Bloemfontein-bred rapper and musician MeccaMind gets real on the gravitas of youth in his new single “Sunny”.
Lifted off his upcoming mixtape LET THE KIDZ PLAY it’s really a reminder to hold onto the carefree nature of youth as you move into adulthood – something which I think a whole lot of us navigating our late twenties can relate to as the realities of life take hold.
A high-tone synth frontline counters a snappy backline beat. Warm, easy vocals lay over the top. The video, directed and shot by Vahid Skippy Davids, feels like half-love story, half-ode to friends. It’s slick and tastefully shot, cutting between MeccaMind cutting loose with the homies, ruminating on his own, and a mystery woman. It’s the sort of clean-cut visual that delivers almost as much as the track itself.
And MeccaMind keeps things real, with a reminder that it’s ok to keep things footloose and fancy free. No matter your age.
