ShabZi Madallion at this point, has mastered the art of a monthly EP release – and there’s even an album dropping next month to keep that ball rolling. Hot on the heels of his melancolia-drenched May EP Who’s Around When It’s Finally Done?, he’s pivoted the emotional hinge towards lighter topics in The Man (Lion) Of the Moment.
This time around he’s pulling on themes of moving onward and upward – leaving behind the nay-sayers and the wannabes in favour of a well-balanced, successful life. Pretty wholesome isn’t it?
“Best In the Game” ropes in Ryan the DJ to kick things off with a slick electronic backdrop, clear-cut vocals spin the quintessential braggadocio tale of letting the haters fall to the wayside and letting the hustle speak for itself. You know the sort. Only Madallion delivers with the sort of assertion which hits a little harder.
“Turn Me Up” favours a snappy synth line and a prevailing beat while he waxes lyrical on, well, living a better life – a statement perhaps slightly more vigorously delivered in closer “YaH YaH”, which comes as a reality check for both himself and the people around him.
It’s short, sweet, and unequivocally slick. And ShabZi Madallion just keeps on kicking up dust wherever he goes.
