Cecil Etc’s latest video “Julia” frames scenic delights, accompanied by ambient sonic terrain

Cape Town hailing producer and muso, Cecil Etc just dropped a music video for his track “Julia” that is both visually arresting, as well as captivating in sound. Striking a satisfying balance between stunning picture and opulent sounds which prove to be a real treat for anyone looking out for his upcoming EP.

The video kicks off by shifting between stark and ornate scenery, in addition to the sound of outspread synth, who’s attack-like momentum contradicts that of the softer, more alluring pictures which unspool. Throughout the video, the visuals showcase evolving activities and changes in colours and textures made only more impactful through sound.

The music is almost metronomic in nature and, as the intensity of the overlapping rhythms increase, the visuals being spliced together seem to become more elaborate. The video is commanded by sound in that the pictures are waved in by complex, but precise, rhythms.

The graphics are just as dynamic as the music accompanying it and as the music progresses in its intricacy, the pictorial content begins to creatively overlap and develop in the same way. Elastic synth parts stretch out however they’d like throughout, yet also boasts a more tactile groove within the drum line.

On the whole, the video impressively steadies its sound with what is seen. It ticks all the boxes falling under stunning visuals paired with an enticing sonic counterpart.
