Cindy-Louise and Erick Gerber team up for a passionate ode to the “Outcasts” of society

With soul stirring, rip-roaring emotion, Cindy-Louise and Erick Gerber (of metalcore outfit Red Helen) deliver a searing tribute to the proverbial “Outcast” – spearheading their ode with personal experience.

“Let’s hear it for the outcasts!” comes Cindy-Louise’s roof-raising chorus, replete in fibrillating textures and theatrical synth. Rich vocals bolster a restrained pre-chorus, while Gerber takes the mic come the second verse, lending rollicking guitar strains and a thudding formative beat to the picture.

The track breaks down just how it feels to be shunted into the shadows in favour of societal expectation, or – perhaps worse – moulding oneself into just what they expect, to one’s own detriment. It cuts close to home for anyone who has navigated fully embracing themselves for who they are.

There’s an unsettling edge to the song, countered by the polished performance of the accompanying music video whose striking frames – shifting from nighttime train stations, graffiti smeared-street corners, and black and white juxtaposition – mirror the passion, if not the fervour, of the track. It’s a rousing anthem bred for the misfits and the rebels and the odd ones out.
