Nic Billington gives Billy Idol’s classic “White Wedding” a thumping, sultry revamp

In keeping with the darker side of his repertoire he’s flexing ahead of his 2024 album Dark Horse, Nic Billington just put a heady, beat-driven slant on Billy Idol’s hit “White Wedding”.

He channels the ’80’s, not in Idol’s classic pop-rock way, but in a driving, contemporary, synth-laden way. Think big beats – almost hinging on EDM but carrying enough original pop inflection to keep the era alive – and textural synths, flecked in dark-pop candour and sultry undertones.

The monochromatic visual adds a whole lot of Billington’s trademark sexy flair to the offering. A black-and-white celebration of love freely given, it squares up boldly to stuffy wedding traditions and offers up an alternative, intimate, celebratory slant.

Billington cuts a cheeky figure in punk attire and skin tight latex in turn, the wedding strips back social norms with increasingly sultry exploration, while the timeless classic gets a revamp which hones in on Billington’s authenticity. And there’s more to come.
