Four-piece outfit from Joburg South, Lefokolodi, release a high-energy, rebellious track highlighting the negative impacts of consumerism and beauty standards, and it’s an absolute banger.
Often referred to as an alt-punk band, Lefokolodi seek to push the boundaries of the genre with influences such as System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana and Tool, to name a few.
Titled “I Wanna Eat”, the single was written by vocalist Lerato when he was only 15 years old, and takes sonic inspiration from video game soundtracks.
Having recently partaken in the Wacken Metal Battle, these guys are a pure powerhouse of a band. Their writing oozes atmospheric hard-rock, with tinges of experimental composition that bring a new layer of intrigue.
The single is accompanied by a killer DIY music video showing the band making an escape from the corporate-driven version of what society wants us to be. The band kills their so-called conformity demons, finally free to be who they want to be.
Lefokolodi are just at the start of their career, but with brazen attitude and uncompromising artistry, they’re on a path to greatness.
