Apple Music’s Alpha playlist highlights female artists who are history-makers and game-changers in their respective genres. For the duration of Women’s Month in South Africa this August, Apple Music is spotlighting four phenomenal musicians who are the epitome of hard graft and undeniable talent.
Amapiano DJ and producer Uncle Waffles, neo-R&B songstress Elaine, Afro-pop singer-songwriter Nomfundo Moh and pop R&B doyenne Nanette will each feature on the cover of Apple Music’s Alpha playlist in August to celebrate their new releases. In receiving this honour, they join the likes of Beyoncé, who was the first artist to grace the cover of the new playlist earlier this year.
On Apple Music’s Alpha playlist you’ll find love and intimacy, hope and validation, intensity and rawness. It’s a place for starting conversations, uplifting one another, and challenging notions through the simple matter of being.
“I’m honoured to be featured on Apple Music’s Alpha playlist, especially at such a monumental time for the South African music landscape, and more so the women involved,” says Elaine. “Being an artist is beautiful, but being a female artist is mighty!” echoes Nomfundo Moh.
“I’m so honoured to be a part of the Alpha playlist and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be celebrated as a woman, and celebrate other phenomenal women too. Growing up in a household of predominantly girls, I was always confident in the strength and tenacity of a woman.” – Nanette.
“I’m really honoured to be featured in Apple Music’s Alpha campaign. Beyoncé was right, girls do run the world.” – Uncle Waffles.
